“BEAUTIFUL – WORDS WILL NOT DO JUSTICE”
About a year ago I came Saba when reading a book about Alexander Hamilton. This was an island I had not heard about and I had to find out more so I did an online search to find out about Saba. I immediately fell in love with the photos and stories about the hidden gem that is Saba and decided to book a vacation there. I found Villa Fairview on the Saba Tourism website and emailed Hans, the owner, to inquire about availability. From the moment of my first email with Hans I felt like I had a new friend. He was on a family holiday in Italy and still took the time to answer all my inquiries. Even with a mix-up with transfer of funds internationally, which turned out to be mistake, he could not have been more easygoing and pleasant.
Now about Villa Fairview. What can I say? It is a magical place in a magical location. The view from the Villa is fantastic overlooking part of the island and the sea beyond. Relaxing is what this place is all about. Coffee in the morning by the pool or cocktails and dinner on the deck overlooking Windwardside and Mt. Scenery – the beauty is breathtaking.
The Villa is conveniently located overlooking the village of Windwardside, an easy walk down the hill to shops and restaurants. The walk back up the hill had me a little out of breath, but if that is the case for you, there are easily available taxis to ride back up the hill. A great service we found out about is that if you spend $60 or more at the market they will deliver the groceries (and you) back to the Villa…a real convenience.
If you are looking to hike, dive or merely relax, Villa Fairview is the place. I hope to return to Saba soon. If you are a person who wants to go, go, go all the time, this is not the place for you, but if you like to take your time, slow the pace of your life and just enjoy the beauty and scenery, then this Caribbean island of Saba and Villa Fairview is the place for you. !
